Improve International
Case study
As a global leader in veterinary CPD, Improve International’s Certificate in Small Animal Surgery is their flagship course recognised for the quality of face to face-to-face teaching. Improve wanted to develop a way to deliver their practical surgical demonstrations remotely to offer their course in a blended online and face-to-face model while still maintaining the quality of their delivery.
THE CHALLENGE
Historically practical surgical demonstrations are difficult to produce to show specific anatomical landmarks, practical techniques and tissue planes and may also show the entire procedure in a lengthly fashion, which can mean the viewer will skip through the video and miss key learning points.

THE SOLUTION
Over fifteen months we collaborated with Improve International and European Specialists in Small Animal Surgery Professor Jon Hall and Kevin Parsons, to create high-quality videos showing soft tissue and orthopaedic surgical skills procedures. The curriculum was spread across six modules; skin, gastrointestinal, urogenital, thoracic, head and neck surgery, and orthopaedic surgery. Each video was carefully designed to maintain the viewer's attention through careful scripting, use of studio lighting and voiceovers.
THE PRODUCT
100 x surgical practical demonstrations videos covering soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery
2 X Course trailer videos

THE OUTCOME
The course has received excellent feedback from students and course leaders and enabled Improve to move into new international markets using online assets for a scaleable digital teaching model for distance learning.
